The story of the artwork

“Tapis Berbère”

“Tapis Berbère” pays tribute to the heritage of Amazigh weaving and the richness of Moroccan culture. Inspired by traditional rugs, this artwork revisits their iconic motifs through a contemporary approach in which colour, texture and relief interact. The gradients of yellow, orange and brown evoke the warmth of the desert, the light of the setting sun and the landscapes of Morocco.

With this composition, I am not only trying to depict a rug, but to reveal what it stands for: memory, transmission and ancestral craftsmanship. The Amazigh motifs, made in 3D acrylic, along with the felt-pen details and the pompoms built into the artwork, create a dimension that is both visual and tactile, inviting the eye to explore every detail and everyone to build their own interpretation of the artwork.
